There’s nothing like immersing yourself in nature on a woodsy getaway where days are wiled away hiking, swimming or kayaking, and where everybody ends their day together around the campfire to trade stories and connect. But giving up your comfy bed and other luxurious amenities from home (hot shower, anyone?) is not a sacrifice we are all willing to make. That’s where glamping, which connects the best of a nature getaway with a glamorous luxury escape, comes in. As it just so happens, this trend is exploding and glamping accommodations are sprouting up across the country, from tipis to tiny homes to cabins and campers. Here are the best glamping spots in every state, based on popularity, price and sweet amenities. Better yet: Each one can be easily booked via Travelocity.

Alaska
You’re in Alaska for an adventure of a lifetime, right? Cabins are the most popular way to glamp in the Last Frontier and the aptly named Alaska Adventure Cabins, a collection of 16 abodes strung along the Sterling Highway, offer just that. Think individually decorated units featuring free WiFi and parking, sofa beds, flat-screen TVs and balcony or sofa bed on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula, 9,000-square miles of wilderness featuring glaciers, snow-capped mountains, hiking trails, pristine lakes, and much more.
Alabama
Alabama may not be the first place you think of when you think of a beach vacation, but maybe it should be! Gulf Shores, located only an hour southeast of Mobile, is a stunning stretch of white sand beaches, and a nice alternative to nearby Florida. The Cabins at Gulf State Park will make you feel like you’ve arrived on a secluded island; each cabin is built on stilts and includes one bedroom (or more, depending on which type you book) bathroom, and kitchen. After kayaking, swimming in Shelby Lakes or hiking through a state park, dine at the local restaurant or whip up dinner at your cabin to enjoy on your private screened-in porch.
Arkansas
Does it get any more romantic than spending the night in a treehouse?! The Oak Crest Cottages & Treehouses are nestled in the heart of Arkansas’s majestic Ozark Mountains. You’ll be a short hike away from the extremely photogenic Pivot Rock and just a few miles from the wonderfully kooky city of Eureka Springs. Built into the wooded landscape, the treehouses will surrounded you with lush greenery, secluded from the chaos of city life, and let you relax in the jet tub and in comfy beds!
Arizona
You might say Under Canvas (which makes several appearances on this list) basically invented modern glamping. The Arizona outpost of this growing brand of safari-inspired tents offers luxe accommodations near the South Rim of the Canyon (and also in Lake Powell and Saguaro National Park). And by luxury, we mean en suite bathrooms (shower, sink, and toilet), wood stove, private deck and—in some cases—a viewing window above the bed for stargazing. Camping is the most affordable way to glamp in Arizona and while Under Canvas will set you back a little more than a pitched tent, we say it’s totally worth the splurge.
California
The Golden State is blessed with breathtaking outdoors, but Los Angeles and San Francisco remind us that doing California right means living it up in style. That’s why Basecamp Hotel South Tahoe fits pampered travelers like a glove. The location offers explorations within arm’s reach of Tahoe’s stunning trails, ski slopes, and pristine waters. Meanwhile, the hotel offers tented rooms that bring the great outdoors in: Think luxe bedding, high-speed WiFi, faux log fires, picnic table, camping chairs, and in-room tents! It’s camping (the most affordable lodging option in a very pricey state) done right.
Colorado
Cozy-rustic meets trendy-chic at Basecamp Boulder, featuring a selection of interesting amenities that “respect your budget,” including spa and sauna access, and bike rentals. You could opt for a traditional hotel room but we recommend the Great Indoors Room, where you’ll feel like you’re sleeping under the stars, thanks to the full-surround mountain murals, camping chairs, and four twin beds that are flush with the ground.
Connecticut
The Nutmeg State isn’t exactly known for glamping, but we say this rustic post and beam cottage qualifies. Tucked away on a quiet country road near Foxwoods, this cozy one bedroom one bath is surrounded by trees and close to area attractions including Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casino, Mashantucket Pequot Indian Museum, the village of Stonington, and lovely Billings Lake.
Delaware
This romantic little cottage in Rehoboth is a great option for a double date trip. With two bedrooms, a big kitchen, and a lovely garden patio, it’s got all you’d need for a weekend away. Plus, it’s just a short walk to the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk so you can spend your days lazing at the beach before retreating back to your cottage home-away-from-home.
Florida
These tiny houses pack a big punch on this Florida campground near Siesta Key. The cottage’s minimalist design doesn’t mean they skimp on any amenities. Here, you’ll find free WiFi, comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchens, and cheerful Florida decor. Just a short drive from the famous sugar-fine white sands of Siesta Key Beach, Tiny House Siesta also lies close to some delicious Sarasota restaurants!
Georgia
Tucked into the mystical Blue Ridge Mountains, Canopy Blue Luxury Treehouse is a stunning cabin-style retreat for your next Appalachian adventure. Start your day with an exhilarating hike through Chattahoochee National Park, spend an afternoon lounging on the bed-swing or cozy up by the fireplace, and then cap off your evening with a dip in the hot tub! With mountain biking trails and river rafting nearby, you’ll get to immerse yourself in nature knowing pure luxury awaits you at the end of the day.
Hawaii
Just the name, Lavender Glamping on Mango Orchard, conjures up images that make us want to book a trip to Oahu right now. But in particular, we love that this tented abode offers a well-equipped kitchen, an outdoor tub/shower, lounge chairs, and is within close proximity of the ocean including Pokai Bay Beach Park, Lualualei Beach Park, Mauna Lahilahi Beach Park and Maili Beach Park. The Dole Plantation is just 9 miles away so there’s tours of Hawaii’s official “Pineapple Experience” as well!
Idaho
Cabins are the most popular form of glamping in the Gem State, which is why we love Angler’s Lodge, a hotel hybrid that functions as both a chic lodge and a smattering of tipis in the woods. Each tipi is outfitted with two full beds, Indian blankets, pine furniture, and close proximity to bathrooms and showers. Of course, we wouldn’t blame you for choosing a chic lodge room (pictured). As for the location, Island Park is just a stone’s throw from Yellowstone—think buffalo, Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic Spring, and more.
Illinois
So many reasons to love this little Cabin on the Creek tucked away in Southern Illinois. For starters, it’s only 6 miles from hilly and jaw-dropping Shawnee National Forest, 6 miles from the mighty Mississippi, and only two minutes to a nearby winery. The cabin features a well-equipped kitchen plus TV with DVD player. 2 bathrooms, a patio, and a sofa bed. You can also arrange limo service into town—now that’s glamping!
Indiana
At first glance, you may be asking yourself if this campsite is actually in the Canadian wilderness, rather than western Indiana. But alas! Castaway Lake Side Canvas Cottage Tent sits along the shores of a tranquil lake six miles inside Shakamak State Park. The cottage is covered in a canvas tent that extends to provide a covered porch and looks like something you’d see at a luxury safari site or wilderness retreat. With a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, you’ll have all the luxuries you could want or need. Kayak or swim in the lake, hike through the park, then lay outside your cottage and count the stars under Indiana’s unspoiled night sky.
Iowa
One of this two-bedroom log cabin’s most attractive features is its outdoor hot tub, which overlooks rolling hills as far as the eye can see. At Stunning Cabin Decorah, you can dine out on the spacious porch and look for deer, or in cold weather, cozy up next to the fireplace. If cabin fever hits, attractions like Seed Savers Exchange Heritage Farm, Topping Goliath Brewing, and Laura Ingalls Wilder Park and Museum aren’t too far away.
Kansas
Glamping? In Kansas City? You’d better believe it. While Worlds of Fun Village, a family-friendly RV park and campsite, is actually on the Missouri side of the state line, it’s undoubtedly the place to be for family fun for both Kansas and Show Me State visitors. The camp/glam ground puts the Worlds of Fun Amusement Park right in your backyard, with options for tiny-house style cabins or cottages, plus family-friendly amenities like an outdoor pool, picnic area and barbecue grills.
Kentucky
If sipping your way through Kentucky’s Bourbon Trail is on your bucket list, keep reading! The Lofty Lodge is tucked neatly among the Kentucky bluegrass and can sleep a crowd so it’s a great spot to bring friends. With deer hunting trophies hung on the walls and a giant tree stump mixed into the great room decor, it’s got a woodsy man-cave vibe that brings the outside in. Just a few miles from a couple of golf courses, a state park, and—most importantly!—Maker’s Mark distillery (get a designated driver!), you’ll have plenty to do during your visit to the Bluegrass State.
Louisiana
This 3 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin is a real charmer and offers gorgeous sunset views from its spacious entertainment deck. Sailors can moor their boats to the cabin’s seawall and access the property directly from Toledo Bend Lake. Its tranquil location near the Louisiana-Texas border guarantees peace and quiet. Nearby adventures include float trips down the scenic Toro Bayou, complete with easy white water, tall pines, and sandy beaches.
Maine
We love these yurt-style abodes which offer a true glamping experience just outside Acadia National Park. Acadia Yurts feature 2-bedroom cottages which also include a soda bed, a well-equipped kitchen, washing machine, and patio. The complex also offers a sauna and fitness center and is close to the town of Southwest Harbor for when you feel like seaside strolls and lobsta’ rolls.
Maryland
A cabin in the woods that includes an outdoor hot tub? Yes, please! This western Maryland hideaway boasts 2 bedrooms, a fireplace, barbecue grills, and a washing machine among other amenities. Tucked away for plenty of peace and quiet, visitors to the cabin are within 6 miles of Deep Creek Lake State Park and Deep Creek Lake, Swallow Falls State Park and the Youghiogheny River.=

But back to those airstream trailers! Each is 31-feet long, can accommodate up to three adults, and features a kitchenette and sitting area.
Michigan
Simon & Garfunkel sang “Michigan seems like a dream to me now” and a stay at Cedar Creek Lodge will make you see why they did. Located in beloved resort town Saugatuck, this rustic cabin sits just minutes from the shores of Lake Michigan. The lodge also includes a pool but If swimming and watersports aren’t your thing, there are two golf clubs down the street, mountain biking and hiking trails nearby, and bike rentals on site. At the lodge, you’ll feel as though you’re in a luxe Lincoln Log set, cozy and relaxing with gorgeous warm colored wood. Unwind on the porch or by the fire pit after a long day spent enjoying the great outdoors. With three bedrooms and a large living room, there will be plenty of space for the whole family to spread out and be comfortable.

Just steps from the shore, you can have the sand between your toes at Gulfport Beach in just minutes from leaving the house. The kids will love Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, a water park less than half a mile from the property. After a day of fun in the fun, the Tiny House by the Beach will welcome you home with comfortable, quaint quarters, and a cheery pastel façade.
Missouri

New York
The famous Catskill Mountains in Upstate New York offer something for everyone. This one includes a kitchen, living room and dining area, plus a patio, fireplace, TV/DVD player and more. We love the lofted sleeping area and knotted pine furniture.
West Virginia
When we hear the word “chalet,” we usually think of cozy alpine house in Switzerland—not West Virginia! But when we saw Moosie Chalet, our jaws hit the floor. Best you can do is talk to people !
Absolutely crazy that you did not include El Capitan Canyon, on the magnificent Gaviota Coast.
Worlds of Fun and it’s village is in Kansas City, Missouri, not Kansas. Please correct this and actually include a Kansas submission that is actually in the state.
I was thinking the same thing. Why is it that an article can be written and include anything about Missouri/Kansas and get it so horribly wrong. Worlds of Fun is in Kansas City, Missouri. The name may have the word “Kansas” in it but it’s not in Kansas. Kansas has attractions of its own and if you can’t find any, well….there’s that! Please fix this! This is a horrible sore spot for Kansas Citian’s.
It states that it is actually on the side of Missouri!
Your choice for the state of Kansas is wrong. Worlds of fun is in Kansas City, MISSOURI!
FYI… The “glamping” you have listed for Kansas is actually in Missouri. How did that get past the editor? I suggest https://www.hipcamp.com/kansas/blackthorn-basecamp/gothic-pod-2
This is the second time I have check your best of 50 states for “X.” I live in Kansas. Both times you have listed activities in Kansas City, MO.
Sad.
I hope your other states are accurate, but Worlds of Fun (and the majority of Kansas City) is located in MISSOURI.
These are not glamping!!
I was thinking the same exact thing! Only like 4 was true glamping!
Your best glamping site in Kansas is a place in Missouri.
You idiots. Worlds of Fun is in Kansas City MISSOURI!
Worlds of fun is not is kansas
The links do not go to the glamping spot.
This is a thrown together weak attempt with only a few real “glamping” options and the balance of them miss as badly as your placement of World’s of Fun. Really, you should get out more and verify your story. Just saying.
No shit. Thank you, Travelocity, for wasting my precious time.
I counted 14 out of 50 offerings that were actually tent-like and one camper. Travelocity, get more creative!!
Your thumbnail photo for Utah is (not actually Red Cliffs) — as it’s the same photo as one shown in Idaho’s (Angler’s) gallery… which is which?
The Amee Farm Lodge in Pittsfield, VT has been closed. It is not located in as serene a spot as you indicate either. It’s right on noisy RT 100. I lived within a mile of the place.
Mt Creek in Vernon, NJ is not a “glamping spot” whatsoever. It is located on a busy highway right on Rt 94. I would not consider that a get away. Maybe for winter skiing, but not for summer enjoyment unless of course, one leaves the bustle of the city.
Wonderful items from you, man. I have take into account
your stuff prior to and you are just too great. I really like what you’ve got right here, certainly like what you are saying and the way
during which you are saying it. You make it entertaining and you still
take care of to stay it wise. I cant wait to learn much
more from you. This is really a great site.
Huh? You call this list of travel accommodations “glamping”? Get real! The majority of them are nothing but hotel or motel rooms, houses, B n’ B fare and cabins. Aside from sleeping in a comfy bed, hanging out in a hotel or cottage isn’t even remotely like glamping. This is nothing but vacationing and if it’s the best you can muster up for a list of true glamping locations you’re in the wrong business, and definitely not a place to book an actual glamping experience. This is disappointing and pathetic.
In LA there is numerous glamping sites in St. Bernard and in St. Tammany Parishs that are true glamping but you put a house in Baton Rouge instead. Check on things first or change your headlines, most of these places aren’t glamping.
