Arrived at front desk with one other couple ahead of us and a single staff member, who was struggling to get them squared away. Supervisor came out after about ten minutes to see how this clerk was doing, noted his struggle and that, by now there were five other guests waiting in line, then turned around and disappeared into the office behind the front desk. When couple ahead of us finally got checked in, the only clerk said he had been there all day, was going home and therefore unable to help us, and likewise disappeared. After a few minutes, with audible displeasure from several of those waiting for at least some acknowledgment that we were even there, I went behind the front desk and poked my head into the back office to ask if there was anyone, anyone at all, who could possibly attend to the growing line of guests waiting to be checked in. One of the four employees milling around the office said that someone would be out momentarily. A few minutes later, another clerk leisurely came out and, without acknowledging anyone, began typing in to a computer at the front desk for a few more minutes. When asked if he was there to assist he said he was logging in, a process that reasonably requires a couple of keystrokes. Needless to say, having had just one guest before us and after about 25 minutes, we finally got a room key, from a very unenthusiastic and don’t-give-damn front desk employee. No doubt, Renaissance is a hotel brand no longer on several people’s list.

Selected this Renaissance Heathrow Hotel for its proximity to LHR for my 1 overnight stay between int’l flights. Fast, easy, & cheap transfers via Hotel Hopper shuttle bus. Reception & check-in warm & courteous, very fast. Room w/king bed was clean & very comfortable, though furnishings & maintenance well past their prime. Good selection of dinner entrees served quickly; abundant bkfst buffet only lacked really good espresso coffee, though Starbucks available elsewhere in lobby. All & all, a very good value package that included RT airfare.
